Nancy E. Cason is a Managing Partner and Shareholder at Syprett Meshad, P.A., where she has practiced since 1998. With more than 25 years experience, she focuses her practice on real property law, estate planning, probate administration, and general business law, serving individuals, businesses, and institutional clients across Florida’s Gulf Coast. Known for her ability to blend practical insight with deep legal knowledge, Ms. Cason is widely recognized for her leadership, professionalism, and longstanding commitment to the Sarasota community.

Ms. Cason’s real estate practice includes representing buyers, sellers, commercial entities, private lenders, and institutional lenders in all aspects of residential and commercial real estate closings and lending transactions. She regularly prepares and negotiates real estate contracts, commercial and residential leases, property management agreements, business contracts, and provides full representation to parties involved in “For Sale by Owner” transactions. She is also an authorized title insurance agent for Chicago Title Insurance Company.

In addition to her real estate practice, Ms. Cason advises clients on the development of estate plans, including wills and trusts, and represents personal representatives and beneficiaries in the probate administration process. Her practice further includes corporate formation and general business law where she acts as general counsel for business throughout the region.

For more than two decades, Ms. Cason was an active member of the Firm’s litigation department, where she managed real estate litigation, landlord–tenant disputes, foreclosure defense, commercial litigation, and estate and trust litigation. Although she no longer maintains an active litigation caseload, she continues to use her extensive litigation experience to support the Firm’s litigation team in setting litigation strategy for real estate, probate and commercial litigation cases and to help clients identify and avoid potential legal pitfalls in their real property, estate and business matters.

Ms. Cason holds an AV Preeminent® rating, the highest rating awarded by Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Ratings™, reflecting the highest level of professional excellence and ethical standards. Since 2019, she has been named to the Florida Super Lawyers list in Real Estate Law—an honor reserved for the top five percent of attorneys in the state—and from 2012 through 2017, she was recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star. She was also honored by SRQ Magazine’s peer review program as an Elite Top Attorney in Real Estate.

In 2024, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis appointed Ms. Cason to her fourth consecutive term on the Twelfth Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission, following two earlier appointments by former Governor Rick Scott and Governor Ron DeSantis in 2019. She served as the Commission’s Chair from 2018–2019.

A dedicated leader in the legal community, Ms. Cason served as President of the Sarasota County Bar Association (SCBA) from 2018–2019. She previously served as Secretary, President-Elect, and as a long-standing member of the Board of Directors from 2003–2020. She is also a Past President of the SCBA Young Lawyers Division. Her service has been recognized through multiple awards, including the C.L. McCaig Award for extraordinary service (2007) and the President’s Award in both 2009 and 2019.

Ms. Cason earned her Juris Doctor, with high honors, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2002, where she was inducted into the Order of the Coif, served on the Florida Law Review—including a term as Senior Symposium Editor—and received Book Awards, representing the highest grade in the class, in Contracts, Trial Practice, and Land Use Planning. She also served as a teaching assistant in Contracts, Legal Research and Writing, and Appellate Advocacy, and earned a Pro Bono Certificate for her commitment to public service.

In 2022, Ms. Cason became one of the first attorneys in the nation to graduate—with highest honors—from the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy’s M.S. in Medical Cannabis Science and Therapeutics, the first graduate program of its kind in the United States. Inspired in part by both parents’ battles with cancer, she is an active advocate for Florida’s Medical Cannabis Program and the development of safe, patient-centered cannabis laws.

Born in New York City and raised in Sarasota from the age of three, Ms. Cason is deeply committed to the Suncoast community she calls home. She volunteers with the palliative arts department of Empath/Tidewell Hospice, providing reiki services to individuals in the final stages of life, and mentors high school students through the Booker High School Law Academy. She is also a past member of the Board of Directors of Girls Inc., an organization she proudly attended as a child and continues to support for its mission of empowering young women to be “Strong, Smart and Bold.”

Throughout her career, Ms. Cason has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to pro bono service. She has volunteered as a pro bono foreclosure defense attorney for the Florida Bar’s Twelfth Judicial Circuit and has participated in community-focused legal education initiatives, including the Sarasota County Bar Association’s Law in the Library series. She has presented widely on topics such as real estate transactions, landlord/tenant law, and foreclosure prevention, and has served as a panelist in televised foreclosure roundtable discussions with Judge Lee Haworth.
