Ben Sorrell

Ben Sorrell is an Associate Attorney practicing in the areas of real estate, commercial litigation, and personal injury.  He is licensed to practice before all Florida state courts as well as the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida. In 2021, Mr. Sorrell was selected to the Florida Super Lawyers “Rising Stars” list — an honor reserved for lawyers aged 40 and under, and to which less than 2.5 percent of lawyers in the state are selected. Additionally in 2021, he was named an Adjunct Professor of Law for the prestigious Stetson University College of Law.

Prior to joining Syprett Meshad, Ben managed his own law practice representing clients throughout the Tampa Bay area in commercial and general litigation cases, as well as in real estate litigation — in one case, successfully negotiating a six-figure settlement in favor of his client who had purchased a residence from a seller who had failed to disclose material defects in the dwelling.  Ben’s legal experience also includes representing homeowners in foreclosure cases, and working with parties involved in HOA and condominium association disputes.

Ben earned his Juris Doctorate from Stetson University College of Law in 2016, earning top grades in Constitutional Law, Real Property Law, and Sports Law.  While at Stetson, Ben was selected to intern with the Honorable Virginia Hernandez-Covington in the Middle District of Florida, and studied with Bruce Jacobs, lead attorney in the instrumental landmark case Gideon v. Wainwright.  He received his undergraduate degree in Secondary Social Science Education, cum laude, from the University of South Florida.

Ben is a member of the Young Lawyers Division of the Sarasota County Bar Association.

An active volunteer in his community, Ben serves as a member of the Board of Directors for Gulfcoast Legal Services, Inc., where he has previously provided weekly pro bono legal services to assist under-income and elderly citizens in Sarasota County. He has also been appointed to the Realtor-Attorney Joint Committee of the Realtor Association of Sarasota and Manatee (RASM) for a two-year term that will end in 2022.

While studying at Stetson, Ben taught high school at Pinellas Park High School where he sponsored the student SWAT (Students Working Against Tobacco) club and was awarded sponsor of the year in 2013.

Ben is married with three children.  He is an avid baseball player and is a member of the Manatee Adult Baseball League that plays weekly in Lakewood Ranch.
