Attorney Amanda M. King joined Syprett Meshad in 2010, and was made a partner in 2017. Amanda exclusively practices in marital and family law including divorcepaternitycustodychild supportalimony, equitable distribution, modifications, relocations, and domestic violence injunctions.  She is committed to working with her clients to create a customized approach and strategy for each individual case, recognizing the emotional and practical needs of clients and their children. Her practice includes litigation, uncontested divorce and parenting plan agreements, mediation, and collaborative family law. In 2021, Ms. King was selected to the Florida Super Lawyers list; only 5 percent of lawyers in the state are selected for this annual honor.  In 2020, she was selected to the Super Lawyers “Rising Star” list — reserved for lawyers aged 40 and under and to which less than 2.5 percent of lawyers in the state are selected. In 2020, Ms. King was also honored in SRQ Magazine’s peer review program as an Elite Top Attorney (Family Law category) of Florida’s Gulf Coast.

In 2019, Amanda was certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a Family Mediator. Certified Family Mediators provide alternative dispute resolution options with a focus on recognizing the emotional and practical needs of spouses, parents, and children. Also in 2019, Amanda was selected by The Florida Bar Family Law Section to serve on its Children’s Issues Committee. The Committee works closely with the Family Law Section’s Executive Council and Legislative Committee to ensure that children’s best interests are protected as a primary concern in all areas of family law throughout the State of Florida.

Amanda is a Guardian ad Litem in the Family Law Division of Florida’s 12th Judicial Circuit Court program, and has served as a trainer for new Guardian ad Litems as well.

Amanda is involved in variety of community and legal organizations. She served twice as Chair of the Family Law Section of the Sarasota County Bar Association, and is a frequent speaker on family law matters in the community. She spent five years on the Board of Directors of the Sarasota County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division, where she served as Treasurer and Social Chair. Amanda is also a Guardian ad Litem in the Family Law Division throughout the Twelfth Circuit.

As the proud owner of two rescue dogs and two rescue cats, Amanda is a longtime supporter of animal rescue organizations, including Nate’s Honor Rescue and Sarasota Humane Society. She is also active with the Sarasota County Gator Club.

Amanda earned her Juris Doctorate in 2007 from Tulane University School of Law in Louisiana. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Arts in Religion, both from the University of Florida.

Amanda is admitted to practice law in Florida, as well as California, where she worked previously as a Deputy Public Defender.
