Ted Martin

Ted Martin became an associate with the firm in 2007. He was born in Virginia and raised in Atlanta, Georgia and in 1999, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Legal Studies from the University of Central Florida in Orlando. Ted MartinMr. Martin then pursued his law career, and was awarded his Juris Doctor in 2001 from the University of Florida College of Law.  Mr. Martin was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2002.  He is a member of the Florida Bar, the Sarasota County Bar Association and the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys.

Mr. Martin has been a member of the United States Army since 1989, beginning his enlisted career with 101st Airborne Division in Operations Desert Storm/Shield.  He rose through the enlisted ranks to Sergeant First Class on a Special Forces Operational Detachment as a Communications Sergeant.  Following law school Mr. Martin received his commission with U.S. Army JAG Corps and served as a Judge Advocate with the 82d Airborne Division in both Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan) and Operation Iraqi Freedom (Iraq).  While with the 82d Airborne Division he prosecuted all levels of Courts-Martial.   He most recently returned again from Iraq after serving a third tour in the Global War on Terror with the Special Operations Task Force North.  Some of his military awards and decorations include three Bronze Star Medals, two Meritorious Service Medals, two Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Medals, both the Iraqi and Afghani Campaign Medals, both the Global War on Terror Expeditionary and Service Medals, and the Special Forces Tab.  He still serves with the Florida National Guard as an Army lawyer and looks forward to retiring in the near future.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Martin prosecuted criminal cases for the Sarasota County State Attorney’s Office. Since joining the private sector and becoming an associate with Syprett, Meshad, Resnick, Lieb, Dumbaugh, Jones, Krotec & Westheimer, P.A., Mr. Martin has devoted his practice to criminal defense and domestic relations law, including dissolution of marriage; paternity; custody and visitation disputes; all support issues, including child support and alimony; post-judgment enforcement and modification issues; and property division issuess.
